SIZING - it is important that you do an accurate hip measurement so that you select the correct size. Click here to see the measuring guidelines.
The Active Sports Shorts are a snug, fitted style. If you measure at the higher end of a size and you don't like your clothing tight, we recommend you choose the next size up. For example, if you measure 37 inches and like your clothes snug and fitted, choose XS, however if you prefer a more relaxed fit, choose the S.

Phoenix Hipwear garments with hip protector shields are designed to protect the hips from injuries in a fall. While they may help lessen the severity of the impact in a fall, it does not guarantee that they will prevent a hip fracture.

I have mountain biked with the active shorts with the hip shields 2 times. I was concerned I would feel the shields while riding, however they seem to mold some with the hip area and I do not notice them. I had a minor fall and landed on my palm and hip. My palm was sore, did have gloves on, felt nothing in the hip area upon impact of afterwards. On a side note, the shorts by themselves are very comfortable. I had tried bulkier hip protection in the past and did not feel confident the shields would stay in place, if/when needed. These shields seem to stay in place very well. I am very pleased so far. Also, the company has great customer service.
